I appreciate working with such a diverse team that has different professional backgrounds and experiences. I am privileged to be able to interact with them on a weekly basis. The BDFP team culture cultivates positive collaboration between all teams in the project. It's unique from other projects in that there are so many trades, contractors and San Francisco city agencies working together.

I’m proud to work at a project that acknowledges the impact we are having on the community and has made it a major part of the project execution to involve community businesses and employ community members. There are many great ways in which BDFP is unique, but the thing that stands out most to me is Women. In. Construction. I came up in construction rarely seeing a woman in a role outside of construction support. This project is the first time I’ve worked with a female project director, a female superintendent, equal numbers of men and women across all departments on the project. It’s empowering and inspiring to see other women being successful and assertive and leaders and being respected for it. Being surrounded by the amazing women on this project has given me the confidence to stretch myself and take opportunities that I might have been hesitant about in other circumstances. And I think these opportunities might not have been open to me if it weren’t for the culture of respect for and belief in women’s abilities that we have at the BDFP.

This is a project that is incorporating innovative technology to greatly benefit the environment and the community. I feel it’s rare that a project has the potential to be as beneficially impactful as this one. I feel like I learn new things every day. Seeing something built that I’ve been thinking about as a design on paper for so many years is really a dream come true. It’s hard to say one thing that has had the biggest impact. This project has meant so much to me for so long. Seeing something built that will serve San Francisco for so many years to come is incredibly emotional and a source of pride for me.

The biggest difference I’ve seen here in compared to other sites I’ve worked on is the inclusivity of different cultures and LGBT+ community within the site. It always feels more welcoming when I see the signs up sharing information about Hispanic heritage month or Pride month. The people are what excite me the most. From the people who work in the office with me to the subcontractors I have meetings with. Each has a different perspective of how this project works and each has something I can learn from. I like how everyday isn’t going to be the same. One day I can focus on processing submittals while others I can be solving problems.

I appreciate the BDFP team’s shared commitment to sustainability and innovation. Additionally, I immensely appreciate the collaborative and supportive nature of the BDFP team. Everyone is willing to lend a hand, share knowledge, and work together to achieve a common goal. At a time when climate change is a polarizing discussion, it is exciting to participate in a project updating critical wastewater infrastructure that will enhance public health, environmental sustainability, and economic growth by improving water quality, reducing pollution, and creating job opportunities. The BDFP stands out for its commitment to improving infrastructure while also supporting women in construction. Seeing a substantial number of women employed on the project is exciting and it is most inspiring to have a significant number in leadership roles. Additionally, the Contractor has excelled by starting a coalition called “BuildHERs,” which encourages collaboration, networking, and creating a safe space for women in the industry to build community. This dedication to women's empowerment is a cornerstone of the project.

This project serves the City of San Francisco in several ways. The most obvious way is replacing aging wastewater infrastructure with new state-of-the-art infrastructure. Of equal importance is the large participation of local San Francisco companies involved in the project. It is fun to be part of building something that helps the community. What excites me is being a small part of something so huge and important to the City of San Francisco that will last for many decades into the future. There is a genuine commitment to involve local businesses it is not just lip service.

What I appreciate most about working with the BDFP team: - Collaboration: The team is cohesive in that even with conflicts, we’re able to work together and develop solutions to drive the project forward. - Growth: Leadership is committed to your career growth and has your best interests in mind. They're open to hearing your concerns and comments and are willing to collaborate on a mutually agreeable path forward. - Diversity: Given this is a large infrastructure project and a joint venture, our team comprises a diverse array of individuals from various backgrounds, experiences, and cultures around the world.
