JASMINE ORTIZ
Document Control Specialist - MWH/Webcor, JV

One of the main reasons I am proud of working on the BDFP Project is that I’m a part of an amazing project that has profoundly impacted my community and my own life. Growing up in the Bayview District, I often would pass by the wastewater plant and deal with the unpleasant smells that were a constant reminder of the environmental challenges my community faced. Now, as an adult, it is truly mind blowing to work in an area that is being reconstructed for the better of the environment and my community. Being involved in this transition makes me feel happy that I am contributing to a positive change.
FRAN BURLINGHAM
ESDC Coordinator - Brown and Caldwell

This is a project that is incorporating innovative technology to greatly benefit the environment and the community. I feel it’s rare that a project has the potential to be as beneficially impactful as this one.
I feel like I learn new things every day. Seeing something built that I’ve been thinking about as a design on paper for so many years is really a dream come true.
It’s hard to say one thing that has had the biggest impact. This project has meant so much to me for so long. Seeing something built that will serve San Francisco for so many years to come is incredibly emotional and a source of pride for me.
JESUS GUTIERREZ
Office Engineer - San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC)

I appreciate working with such a diverse team that has different professional backgrounds and experiences. I am privileged to be able to interact with them on a weekly basis. The BDFP team culture cultivates positive collaboration between all teams in the project.
It's unique from other projects in that there are so many trades, contractors and San Francisco city agencies working together.
LEAH RHODES
Assistant Field Contracts Administrator - Hollins Consulting, Inc.

I appreciate the BDFP team’s shared commitment to sustainability and innovation. Additionally, I immensely appreciate the collaborative and supportive nature of the BDFP team. Everyone is willing to lend a hand, share knowledge, and work together to achieve a common goal.
At a time when climate change is a polarizing discussion, it is exciting to participate in a project updating critical wastewater infrastructure that will enhance public health, environmental sustainability, and economic growth by improving water quality, reducing pollution, and creating job opportunities.
The BDFP stands out for its commitment to improving infrastructure while also supporting women in construction. Seeing a substantial number of women employed on the project is exciting and it is most inspiring to have a significant number in leadership roles. Additionally, the Contractor has excelled by starting a coalition called “BuildHERs,” which encourages collaboration, networking, and creating a safe space for women in the industry to build community. This dedication to women's empowerment is a cornerstone of the project.
